I was once asked to give a talk on resilience to a business group, lawyers actually. The question that was asked of me was “what do you think is a core ingredient needed to build resilience?” My answer was simple – “compassion”. I believe that if we are going to build resilience in our self, or in our team – be it in personal or work life – we need to be able to embrace compassion for ourselves and for others. In times of stress, when resilience is called on it is too easy to let go of kindness and care for self and those around us. The ego’s fear can grip us and make us hard, inconsiderate and believing that physical strength and stamina is all that is need – not so. If we can breathe and connect to the soul’s compassion we can engage a deep inner resilience premised on self-worth, self-esteem and guided by self-love. This form of resilience is powerful in the face of tragedy and life’s unexpected and unwanted events. It is this type of resilience that has helped pull me through when my world has been rocked by sudden death, disease, and redundancy. I truly believe resilience is about emotional, and mental strength and having the capacity to embrace compassion. If your having a tough weekend, I hope you can find a quiet moment to breathe, be kind to self….. and centre. Thanks so much to Nude Yoga Girl for such a gorgeous image of soul beauty compassion. #christinespringphotography #liberatingself #nude #fineartnude #artisticnude #rawbeauty #soulbeauty #soulsjourney #christinespringphotographer #christinespring #resilience #nude_yogagirl #compassion
